The Rock Island Preservation Society (RIPS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Rock Island, Illinois. The mission of RIPS is to create a safe and secure environment in which to preserve the cultural, historical, and natural resources of the region. Founded in 1977, RIPS has been dedicated to educating the public and providing responsible stewardship of the local environment.
RIPS works to preserve the natural and cultural resources of the area, including its natural habitat, historical sites and recreational areas. They are actively engaged in the preservation of wetlands, prairies and woodlands, as well as historical structures like the Black Hawk State Historic Site.
