BRIGADE OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

The Brigade of the American Revolution (BAR) is a non-profit, educational organization founded in New Canaan, Connecticut in 1983. It is dedicated to portraying the lives of the men, women, and children who lived during the American Revolution. The organization is comprised of re-enactors from all over the United States and Canada, who portray members of the Continental Army, the militia, and civilians. Their mission is to bring the American Revolutionary War to life through educational programs and presentations, demonstrating the life and times of the 18th century.

The BAR's activities include re-enactments of encampments, battles, and siege warfare, as well as living history programs, parades, and civic events. Re-enactors dress in period clothing and use period-accurate weapons and equipment. They also participate in educational programs and lectures, and provide demonstrations of 18th-century military tactics and drills.

The BAR is comprised of various regiments and companies, each representing different units and roles of the Continental Army and militia. The regiments are divided into two divisions, the Continental and the Militia, and each regiment is composed of a variety of companies, including infantry, cavalry, artillery, and musicians.
