Edwards' Hairstreak in Virginia This Edwards' Hairstreak, <i>Satyrium edwardsii,</i> was one of six I found along a high ridge near several open areas with scrub oak and blooming common milkweed. They are rare in the central Shenandoah Valley.

It occurs in the eastern United States and southern Canada. The species is considered vulnerable.
