Painted Lady in Virginia [Explored] (Second of two) This Painted Lady, <i> Vanessa cardui, </i> is the same individual in the previous image in my photostream. Based on the condition of the wings, it must have just eclosed. This species, which, migrates north from Mexico into the U.S. is known to breed throughout its migration. Some years few make it to the eastern U.S. Hillandale Park area, Harrisonburg, Virginia. October 10, 2023.
