Belle Mont Mansion, in historic Hillsboro, Alabama, is a stunning example of Southern Antebellum architecture. Built in 1829, it is one of the oldest surviving homes in the state. It stands proudly on a hillside overlooking the town, with its beautiful two-story white columns, a wide veranda, and a cupola at the peak of the roof.

The home has a unique design, with a central hall separating two large rooms on each side, as well as two smaller rooms behind them. It features a grand staircase, original mantels, and floor-to-ceiling shutters. The interior is decorated with period antiques and art, while the exterior of the mansion is surrounded by a picket fence and lush gardens.

Belle Mont Mansion has a long and interesting history. It was originally owned by the family of William Rufus King, the US Vice President under Franklin Pierce. The house was then bought by Thomas M. McClellan, a plantation owner and judge. By the early 1900s, the mansion had fallen into disrepair, but was restored to its original beauty in the 1980s.

Today, Belle Mont Mansion is open to the public and available for special events. It has been featured in movies and television shows and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a beautiful piece of history and a reminder of the rich history of Hillsboro, Alabama.

US31 South on Steamboat Bill Hudson Bridge Crossing the Tennessee River on US Route 31 into Decatur, Alabama. This truss girder bridge is known as the Bill "Steamboat" Hudson Bridge. Used a my old manual Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 lens with a Fotasy FD-EOSR adaptor. Probably set this in the range of f/11-13-16 because there's wide depth of field on this shot. Set the focus near infinity, crank up the ISO to 1000 on a sunny day, and it's still a winner, even for something manufactured in 1978.
