The Phillips Collection is a private, non-profit art museum located in Washington D.C. Established in 1921, it is America’s first museum of modern art. It is housed in a Georgian Revival mansion, built in 1896 by the founder, Duncan Phillips. Phillips was an art collector and collector of Impressionist and Modern American art.

The Phillips Collection contains more than 3,000 works of art. It is particularly noted for its collection of Impressionist and Modern art, including works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Edward Hopper. It also has a large collection of prints and photographs.

The Phillips Collection is organized into three galleries. The Main Gallery houses the museum’s permanent collection and special exhibitions. The East Building houses the museum’s changing exhibitions. The Duncan Phillips Study Center is a research and conservation facility open to scholars and the public.

The museum also offers a variety of educational programs, including lectures, classes, workshops, and tours. The museum also hosts special events and performances.

The Phillips Collection is open to the public and admission is free. It is located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington D.C., and is easily accessible by public transportation.
