John Dickinson Plantation is a historic site located in Dover, Delaware. It is the home of John Dickinson, a Founding Father of the United States and signer of the Declaration of Independence. The plantation was built in 1740 and has been meticulously maintained to preserve its original beauty and charm. The site includes the original house, outbuildings, a reconstructed kitchen, and a museum.

The house itself is a two-story brick structure with a hipped roof and four rooms. The house is furnished with period pieces that reflect the lifestyle of a prosperous eighteenth-century planter. The outbuildings include the reconstructed kitchen, a smokehouse, a barn, and a chicken coop. The kitchen is a replica of the original and contains a hearth, cooking utensils, and other artifacts.

The museum at John Dickinson Plantation houses artifacts related to Dickinson’s life and times. There are displays on the Delaware Constitution, the history of Delaware, and the life of Dickinson. There are also artifacts related to the family’s slave quarters, as well as documents and photographs from the era.

The grounds of the plantation are open to the public and offer a glimpse into the past. The site is managed by the Delaware Historical Society, and is a popular destination for school field trips and educational programs.
