The Salmon Brook Historical Society, located in North Granby, Connecticut, is an organization dedicated to preserving the local history of the town. Founded in 1977, the Society is staffed by a volunteer board of directors and has a membership of over 250 people. The Society is located in the Salmon Brook Meeting House, which was built in 1883 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Salmon Brook Historical Society is an active organization that collects, preserves, and interprets the history of North Granby and the surrounding towns. They maintain an extensive collection of artifacts, documents, and photographs that tell the story of North Granby’s past. They also host educational programs and lectures and publish a quarterly newsletter. The Society’s archives are open to the public for research purposes.
The Salmon Brook Historical Society also helps to preserve the town’s historic buildings, sites, and landscapes. They are involved in a variety of local preservation projects, including the restoration of the Salmon Brook Meeting House and the preservation of the remains of the Ellis family homestead, which was built in the early 1800s.
The Salmon Brook Historical Society welcomes the community to come and explore their archives and exhibits. They are open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Visitors can also go on guided tours of the Meeting House and the Ellis homestead.
