The Farmington Historical Society Incorporated (FHSI) is a non-profit organization located in Farmington, Connecticut. The organization was established in 1947 and is dedicated to preserving, sharing and interpreting the history of Farmington and its surrounding area.
FHSI operates two historic sites, the Arnold House and the Nathan Hale Homestead, both of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In addition to these sites, FHSI also maintains an extensive collection of artifacts, archives, photographs and documents related to Farmington’s history.
The organization hosts a variety of programs throughout the year, including lectures, exhibits, educational activities and walking tours. Each year, the organization also hosts a three-day event, “Farmington Historical Weekend”, which celebrates local history and culture with a variety of activities, including concerts, demonstrations and special events.
The organization also publishes a quarterly newsletter, The Farmington Times, which features articles on local history and current events. The organization also offers volunteer opportunities, including archival research, collections management and exhibit preparation.
FHSI is also a member of the Connecticut League of History Organizations and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The organization works in collaboration with other local organizations to promote and support local history, culture and education.
