The University of Alaska Foundation was established in 1965 to provide private funding for the University of Alaska. Midnite Sun Festival Held every year around the summer solstice in Fairbanks, Alaska. The street fair runs from noon to midnight. On this day, in Fairbanks the sun rose at 3:39 am and set at 1:47 am. There was no darkness, only a couple of hours of bright dusk.

Line-O-Pipe The Trans-Alaska Pipeline winding its way from Prudhoe Bay on the Arctic Ocean at the far north of Alaska south to Valdez, on the shores of Prince William Sound in southcentral Alaska. This is a &quot;vista point&quot; on the Dalton Highway north of Fairbanks.

The pipeline is heated and insulated to keep the waxy North Slope crude from solidifying and plugging it. It is elevated at this point to keep the heated pipeline from melting the permafrost soil.
