The Moorpark Historical Society is a non-profit organization based in Moorpark, California that works to collect, preserve, and celebrate the history of Moorpark and its surrounding areas. Founded in 1993, the organization is dedicated to educating the public about the past and honoring the memories of those who have lived in the area. The Society owns and operates the historic downtown Moorpark Museum, which is open to the public for free. The museum houses a variety of artifacts, photographs, and documents that tell the story of Moorpark’s past. The Society also organizes events such as lectures, workshops, and educational programs throughout the year.

The Moorpark Historical Society is active in the local community and works to promote local history. It is a member of the Ventura County Historical Society and the California Historical Society and participates in the Ventura County History Day celebration each year. It also sponsors the Regional History Fair for Ventura County High School students. The Society is committed to preserving the history of Moorpark and its neighboring communities, and it looks forward to continuing its work into the future.

The Carmel Mission ... at the Mission Courtyard at the Gardens of the World. On the walls of the portico surrounding the courtyard are paintings of each of the 21 missions founded by the Franciscan Order between 1769 and 1833. They were placed about 30 miles apart (the distance of a days journey then) between San Diego and Sonoma; the total distance is about 650 miles. Thousand Oaks
Dante's Peak Filming Locations - USGS - Malibu, California Malibu, California The USPS Point Dume Post Office Station in Malibu doubled for the United States Geological Survey office. ------------- The film Dante's Peak was filmed largely in or around the town of Wallace, Idaho in 1996, with additional locations in California. This collection recreates and expands my original 2007 edition, comparing scenes from the movie with their real life counterparts, taken in 2017. Still my favorite movie, enjoy!
