The Amador County Historical Society in Jackson, CA, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the history of Amador County for its members and the greater community. Established in 1971, the Amador County Historical Society strives to collect, preserve and make accessible the records, artifacts and stories that tell the story of Amador County. The society operates two museums, the Amador County Museum and the Kennedy Gold Mine.

The Amador County Museum contains an extensive collection of artifacts and relics that tell the story of the history and culture of Amador County from the earliest Native American occupation to the present. The museum is housed in a two-story building in downtown Jackson and features changing exhibits, a research library and a gift shop. The Kennedy Gold Mine is a historic gold mine located in Jackson, CA. It is a popular tourist attraction and is home to a number of mining artifacts and interpretive programs.

Infrared Camera To take infrared pictures with my point and shoot camera (not my dedicated infrared camera which is still in Japan), I bought an IR filter (a Hoya Infrared R72) and just hang it on the lens assembly of my camera. I've dropped the filter a few times but so far, it's still in one piece... The filter is very dense, requiring a minimum of 15 seconds per exposure with a very wide aperture. The result is also a dim red image, which I process for lightness and convert to grayscale.
