Perris / Bank of Perris – museum (#0025) Very well preserved historic bank building in downtown Perris. It was built in 1918 and locally operated until 1947, when it was bought by another bank. At some point in relatively recent history it was bought by the city and now houses the archives of the Perris Valley Historical Museum.
Perris / downtown (# 0022) Though small, downtown Perris was in good shape with multiple, active, small businesses and many customers. The town is quite historic by Southern California suburban standards. It was founded in 1885 as a railroad town and is named after Fred Perris of the California Southern Railroad. (<u><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia Perris,_California" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Perris</a></u>.)
Perris / classic market (# 0024) On one edge of downtown Perris, a classic supermarket that looks to date back to the 1950’s.
Perris / Perris Theater (# 0018) Opened in 1946, designed in an art-deco style but apparently modified at various times. It’s now owned by the city for its historical value to downtown, but closed due to structural problems. Pictures in the below links show the theater as once having a marquee around the base of the tall sign. Perris / SoCal Rail Museum UP 2564 (# 0008) Originally built in 1921 for a Union Pacific subsidiary and traded to UP subsidiary “Oregon Short Line” in 1923 where it was used until 1955. Retired in 1959, it wound up at this museum in 1997.
