The Hemet Heritage Foundation (HHF) is a non-profit organization located in Hemet, California. Its mission is to preserve, protect, and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Hemet Valley. Founded in 2006, HHF has been instrumental in preserving local history, promoting local businesses, and enhancing the quality of life in the Hemet Valley.

The town is quite historic by Southern California suburban standards. It was founded in 1885 as a railroad town and is named after Fred Perris of the California Southern Railroad. It’s now owned by the city for its historical value to downtown, but closed due to structural problems. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any way to get a closer shot…. The day I visited the museum there was almost no one there, which made it easier to explore the grounds but I didn’t get into any of the car barns. Perris / SoCal Rail Rio Grande Baggage - Museum (# 0015) One of two Denver & Rio Grande baggage cars that house the <i>Middleton Museum of Toy Trains & Americana</i> at the Southern California Railroad Museum. Unfortunately, couldn’t find any detail about the toy train museum – so will have to visit... The day I visited the museum there was almost no one there, which made it easier to explore the grounds but I didn’t get into any of the car barns. Perris / SoCal Rail Museum UP 2564 (# 0008) Originally built in 1921 for a Union Pacific subsidiary and traded to UP subsidiary “Oregon Short Line” in 1923 where it was used until 1955. Retired in 1959, it wound up at this museum in 1997.
