The Orleans County Historical Association (OCHA) is a nonprofit organization based in Albion, New York. Founded in 1967, it is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Orleans County's rich heritage. OCHA has several properties in its care, including the Morgan-Harris House, the Murray-Latta House, and the Albion Railroad Museum. The association also manages the Albion Historical Society and the Albion Veterans Memorial, both located in the village of Albion.

The Morgan-Harris House is a 19th-century Greek Revival-style house which was built in 1845. It is now a museum of local history, featuring period furnishings and artifacts. The Murray-Latta House is a 19th-century Queen Anne-style house which was built in 1883. It is now a museum of local history and a living history site, featuring artifacts, period furnishings, and programs and events. The Albion Railroad Museum is an outdoor museum featuring locomotives, railcars, and other railroad artifacts from the mid-19th to mid-20th centuries.

OCHA also hosts a number of events throughout the year, such as the Annual Heritage Festival, the Annual Historic Homes Tour, and the Annual Train Show. OCHA also offers educational programs for both adults and children, including lectures, workshops, and field trips. Finally, OCHA provides research assistance to those interested in researching their family's history in Orleans County.

January 14, 2023: Pine Hill Cemetery, Elba, New York Scene from a visit to Pine Hill Cemetery in Elba, New York on a frigid winter morning. Extending to an area of about an acre on the parcel otherwise occupied by the Elba United Methodist Church <i>(background)</i> with which it was historically associated, the cemetery dates to 1803 and is a typical example of those that dotted the rural hinterlands of Upstate New York at the time, with many headstones that comprise fine examples of the era's typical funerary artwork. Pine Hill contains the remains of about 600 or 700 individuals, many of whom figure among the village's founding fathers. One especially notable burial was that of John Young (1775-1836), signer of the first deed ever issued by the Holland Land Company: on July 22, 1803, he and his wife Peggy purchased 102 acres on the Oak Orchard Road for the price of $202, on which they operated a farm and a roadside tavern.

A.M. Ives House aka "Stonehurst", Medina, New York, January 2022 Stonehurst, 304 West Center Street at Prospect Avenue, Medina, New York, January 2022. Erected in 1861 using the less common pink variety of the superior-quality sandstone that made Medina famous, this sumptuous mansion functions almost as a primer on the principles of Italian Villa-style residential architecture. The ornate brackets undergirding the widely overhanging eaves of the gently-sloped roof; the tall, narrow pairs of round-arched windows crowned by dentillated entablatures and flanked by stylized pilasters, and - of course - the corner tower with its ornately decorated belvedere cupola are all characteristic trademarks of the aesthetic. Born in Cortland, Augustus Miles Ives (1817-1889) moved to Medina around 1840 and quickly made a name for himself in the local business community, principally with the firm of Swan, Ives & Whalen, dealers in wholesale produce. He lived at Stonehurst until his death, and his widow Caroline stayed on for another nine years before selling the house to local banker Homer J. Luther (hence its alternate name, the Luther Mansion). It was empty and in deteriorating condition by 2018, when it was purchased by Talis Historic Restorations, who are currently renovating the property for use as hotel and event space.

May 15, 2021: Former Hart House Hotel; R. H. Newell & Co., Medina, New York A contributing property to the NRHP-listed Main Street Historic District in the village of Medina, New York, the three-story Hart Hotel is about as fine an example of High Victorian Italianate commercial architecture as you'll find anywhere in America. Former Hart House Hotel; R. H. Newell & Co., Medina, New York, May 2021 The three-story, five-bay-wide, red brick building at 111-115 West Center Street in Medina, New York's Main Street Historic District is about as fine an example of High Victorian Italianate commercial architecture as you'll find anywhere in America. Built about 1876 by Jacob Gorton, the most eye-catching features on this exquisite façade are the Renaissance-inspired keystone-studded crowns over the segmental-arched windows, whose light-colored gray Medina sandstone makes for a striking color contrast vis-à-vis the rest of the exterior. These window crowns feature horizontal projections at their base which, together with the similarly fashioned sandstone windowsills, make for ersatz string courses that span more-or-less the entirety of the façade. Almost as impressive is the prominent wooden cornice at the roofline, undergirded by ornate carved scroll brackets and an impressive row of corbelling. The segmental-arched main entrance is framed by a wide transom and sidelights, which, according to historic photographs, were in turn once framed by a porch topped with a wooden balustrade. The building's two longest-tenured occupants were the Hart House, operated by E. Kirk Hart between 1880 and 1919 as one of four hotels in the village, and Robert H. Newell & Co., a manufacturer of high-end custom-fitted men's shirts and other accessories that did business here from 1919 until 2004. It was purchased from Newell in 2005 by Andrew Meier and is now a mixed-use facility housing a cafe, meadery, law office, and a revived, boutique version of the Hart House Hotel.
