October 27, 2021: Rich-Twinn Octagon House, Akron, New York Located near the village center of Akron, New York, the Rich-Twinn House is Erie County's only existing octagon house: a design model popular in the mid-19th century due to its efficient use of space.

The Albion Betterment Committee (ABC) in Albion, New York is a volunteer organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in the community. Founded in 1966 by a group of local residents, the ABC has worked for nearly 50 years to promote community development and create a safe, vibrant environment for all.

ABC is a grassroots organization with an elected board of directors and a core group of active members. The board is responsible for the overall direction of the organization and the members carry out the day-to-day operations of the organization. ABC is funded through donations and grants, as well as through fundraising events and other activities.

The ABC works in partnership with local government, business, and other organizations to promote projects that improve the quality of life in Albion. Projects range from beautification efforts such as public art and flower plantings to community events like movie nights and farmers markets. The ABC is also involved in projects that promote economic development, including small business grants and a business incubator.

The ABC also works to develop relationships between local organizations and residents. This includes providing outreach and education to the community and hosting meetings and events to promote dialogue and collaboration. Through their efforts, the ABC hopes to foster a sense of community and create a more connected and vibrant Albion.
