Colton Hall Museum is located in Monterey, California, and serves as a memorial to the state’s first constitutional convention. The museum is located in the original building where the convention was held from September 3rd to October 13th, 1849. The building was built in 1847 and was named after Walter Colton, the first American alcalde (mayor) of Monterey.

The building has undergone several renovations since it was first built, but today it is home to the museum which contains artifacts and documents related to the convention and the individuals who attended. Inside the museum, visitors can view a copy of the original California Constitution and a painting depicting the signing of the document. Other artifacts include furniture and items used by the delegates, a replica of the Liberty Bell, and a bronze statue of former governor Peter Hardeman Burnett, who was the first governor of California.

The museum also houses a library and a research center, which contains books, manuscripts and other materials related to the convention. The museum offers educational programs for students and adults, and hosts several special events throughout the year. The museum also offers guided tours, which provide a more in-depth look at the history and significance of the convention.
