The Sonoma State Historic Park Association (SSHPA) is a nonprofit organization that works to preserve and promote the rich history of Sonoma, California. It was founded in 1976 by a group of local citizens and is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Sonoma’s past.
The SSHPA operates the Sonoma State Historic Park, a California State Park that includes historic buildings, gardens, and other features of Sonoma’s past. The park includes the Mission San Francisco Solano, the last mission established in California; the Vallejo Home, the home of General Mariano Vallejo, the founder of Sonoma; and the Blue Wing Inn, one of the oldest inns in California.
The SSHPA also operates the Toscano Hotel, a Victorian-era hotel that has been restored to its original condition, and the Mission San Francisco Solano Museum, where visitors can learn more about the mission's history.
The association sponsors events throughout the year, including lectures, exhibits, and re-enactments. It also operates a gift shop and offers educational programs to the community. It also works to preserve and protect other historic sites in the area, such as the Sonoma Plaza, the Presidio, and the Sonoma Barracks.
The SSHPA is committed to preserving and promoting Sonoma’s history and culture. Through its efforts, the SSHPA helps to ensure that the history of Sonoma is not forgotten.
