The WRYMOO Railroad Historical & Educ. Society Modoc Railroad Academy (WRH&ESMRRA) is a nonprofit organization located in Marion, Illinois. Founded in 1986, the mission of the WRH&ESMRRA is to preserve and promote the history of the railroads of Southern Illinois, as well as to educate the public about the railroads, both past and present. The WRH&ESMRRA is dedicated to preserving the history of the area’s railroads, including the town’s own Modoc Railroad and the Marion-Carbondale Railroad.
The WRH&ESMRRA operates a museum and library, both of which contain artifacts, photographs, documents, and other items related to the history of the area’s railroads. The museum also houses a model train display and a variety of railroad memorabilia. The library includes a large collection of books and periodicals related to the history of railroads in the area.
The WRH&ESMRRA also offers educational programs for school groups, including lectures and guided tours of the museum and library. Additionally, the WRH&ESMRRA hosts special events such as the annual Model Railroad Show, the Train and Toy Show, the Holiday Open House, and the Railroad Expo.
The WRH&ESMRRA is committed to preserving the history of the railroads of Southern Illinois and educating the public about the railroads of the region. The organization works to ensure that the history of the railroads is remembered and celebrated.
