The Lake Villa Historical Society was established in Lake Villa, Illinois in 1988 by a group of local citizens who wanted to preserve the history and heritage of the area. The society is dedicated to the research, preservation and interpretation of Lake Villa's colorful past.

The society has an extensive collection of photographs, documents and artifacts that are related to the history of Lake Villa. These collections are available for research and educational purposes. The society also maintains a library of local history books and publications.

The Lake Villa Historical Society offers a variety of programs, such as lectures, exhibits, special events and educational activities. The society also provides tours of the area's historical sites, such as the former Lake Villa Creamery, the D.W. Starrett Mansion and the old Lake Villa Depot.
