The Silver City Historical Society Incorporated (SCHSI) is a non-profit organization located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Founded in 1966, SCHSI is dedicated to preserving, interpreting and sharing the history of Hawaii and its people.
SCHSI is a volunteer-run organization that is focused on educating and engaging the public in the historical and cultural heritage of the islands. The organization works to collect, preserve, and exhibit documents and artifacts related to Hawaii's past. SCHSI also sponsors a variety of programs, events, and educational activities throughout the year including lectures, symposia, and special exhibitions.
SCHSI’s collection includes rare documents, photographs, and artifacts related to the history of Hawaii. Many of the items in the collection are from the 19th century and earlier. The collection is located in the Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic Site and Archives, which is a museum and archive operated by SCHSI.
SCHSI is a member of the American Association for State and Local History, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Hawaii Museums Association. SCHSI is funded primarily by donations, grants, and memberships.
