Washington Place is a historic landmark located in Honolulu, Hawaii. The two-story Greek Revival mansion was built in 1847 by the widow of former Governor of Hawaii, John Owen Dominis. The mansion was originally designed as a private residence, but it has also served as the home of Hawaii's royal family and as the official residence of the Governor of Hawaii.
The mansion is situated on an 8.3 acre estate in the heart of Honolulu, near the State Capitol. The mansion is composed of two main wings, connected by a central hall, and is surrounded by lush gardens, a koi pond, and a large orchid house.
The interior of the mansion contains a grand entrance hall, a formal parlor, a library, and a dining room. The house is decorated with a mix of European and Hawaiian furnishings, including several pieces of artwork from the royal family.
The grounds of the mansion also include a memorial to Queen Liliuokalani, Hawaii's last reigning monarch, and a memorial to the victims of the Pearl Harbor attack.
Washington Place is open to the public for tours, and it is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. The mansion is also the site of several special events throughout the year, including the annual holiday tree lighting ceremony and a Fourth of July celebration.
