The Troup County Historical Society in LaGrange, Georgia is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of Troup County and the surrounding region. Founded in 1976, the Society collects, preserves and interprets the artifacts and information that document the history of the county. Through exhibits, research and educational programs, the Society strives to illustrate the past and present of Troup County and its people.

The Society's museum is located in downtown LaGrange and is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday. The museum houses artifacts, photographs and documents that illustrate the history of the county, including Native American history, the Industrial Revolution, Civil War, Reconstruction, and World War I and II eras. The museum also houses a genealogical library, which contains an extensive collection of books, microfilm, and other materials to help researchers trace family history.

The Society also sponsors several events throughout the year, such as the Troup County Historical Festival, which is held each fall in LaGrange. The festival includes a variety of activities, such as historical reenactments, music, and a parade, as well as tours of historic sites.

The Society also operates a research library, which provides access to a variety of resources, including books, microfilm, and manuscripts. The library is open to the public and is a great resource for those who are interested in exploring the history of Troup County.

The Society's mission is to promote and stimulate public interest in the history of Troup County and the surrounding area, to collect and preserve information and artifacts related to the area's history, and to provide educational programs and materials about the area's past.
