The Arizona Historical Society Northern Arizona Division in Flagstaff, AZ is a research and cultural center dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of northern Arizona. Founded in 1951, the division collects, preserves, and interprets the region’s history and culture for the public. It serves as a resource for teachers, students, scholars, and anyone interested in the history of the region. The division has three main components: the Research Library and Archives, the Museum, and the Historic Gammons Cabin.

The Research Library and Archives houses an extensive collection of books, photographs, manuscripts, maps, and other materials related to the history of northern Arizona. The Museum features exhibits that tell the stories of the people and cultures of the region, from the early indigenous tribes to the settlers who moved to the area in the late 19th century. The Historic Gammons Cabin, which was built in 1891, is the oldest surviving structure in Flagstaff and serves as a reminder of the area’s past.

The division is open to the public and admission is free. It is located in the historic downtown area of Flagstaff and is open Monday through Saturday.

Arizona Apple Orchard, Oak Creek Canyon 2015 Many folks travel I-17 between Flagstaff and Sedona, AZ not knowing that just a couple miles to the west is one of the most scenic drives in America. This 89A state road cuts through Oak Creek Canyon. One of my favorite spots is Slide Rock State Park where once there was an apple orchard in the midst of red rock formations.
