GILBERT'S BAR HOUSE OF REFUGE

Gilbert's Bar House of Refuge is a historic building located in Stuart, Florida. Built in 1931, it was originally a U.S. Life-Saving Station and was named after the first keeper, William A. Gilbert. The building is a two-story, rectangular structure made of coquina rock. It is topped with a red-tiled roof and a cupola. Inside, the ground floor has a large, open room with a full bar and a stage.

The second floor has a small museum with artifacts from the station's past. The museum includes a model of the station, uniforms, tools, and other memorabilia. Visitors can also view the original logbook, which records the names of those rescued by the station.
