The Historical Society of Fort Meade, located in Fort Meade, Florida, is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of the area. Founded in 1984, the Historical Society has a mission to collect, preserve, research, interpret and promote the history of the Fort Meade area.

The Historical Society operates out of the historic 1912 Carnegie Library and boasts a growing collection of artifacts, photographs, documents, and other memorabilia. Visitors can view permanent and rotating exhibits, as well as participate in special events such as lectures, workshops and field trips.

The Historical Society also offers a variety of educational programs aimed at students and local residents, including presentations on local history, guided tours and a speaker series. The organization also works with local schools to provide educational and entertaining field trips to the museum.

The Historical Society of Fort Meade also publishes a quarterly newsletter, the “Fort Meade Herald,” and works to promote the area’s history through public speaking engagements and other media.
