The African-American Civil War Memorial Freedom Foundation is a non-profit organization located in Washington D.C. dedicated to honoring and remembering the contributions of African Americans who fought for freedom during the Civil War. The memorial was dedicated in 1998 and consists of a large bronze sculpture of a black soldier and a wall listing the names of 209,145 African Americans who served in the United States Colored Troops. The monument also contains an eternal flame and a reflecting pool. The Freedom Foundation strives to educate the public on the service and sacrifice of these soldiers, and to recognize the African American contribution to the Union victory in the Civil War.

The Freedom Foundation runs a variety of programs and activities to promote awareness and understanding of African American history and the Civil War. These include providing educational materials to students and teachers, sponsoring lectures and symposia, and leading tours of the memorial. The Foundation also hosts regular events to commemorate the anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and other significant dates in African American history.

The Freedom Foundation works to preserve and promote the legacy of the African American Civil War soldiers. It serves as a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of these men and women, and of the importance of remembering and honoring their legacy.
