The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) in Washington DC is a living memorial to the millions of people who were victims of the Nazi regime during World War II. It is dedicated to understanding the history of the Holocaust, to preserving its memory, and to providing a platform for dialogue and reflection.

The museum was created in 1993 by the United States Congress and is the only federal institution devoted solely to Holocaust education and remembrance. It is a place of learning and reflection, providing visitors of all backgrounds an opportunity to explore the events of the Holocaust and the individuals and groups that were affected by it.

The museum is divided into four main sections: History, Survivors and Victims, Rescue and Resistance, and Legacy. Each area contains interactive displays, films, photographs, artifacts, and documents that tell the stories of those affected by the Holocaust. There are also a variety of educational programs and events, including lectures, workshops, and conferences.

The museum also has a research institute that maintains an extensive collection of documents, photographs, and recordings related to the Holocaust. The institute supports research projects and provides resources for the public and educational institutions.

The museum is open seven days a week and admission is free. It is a place where visitors can learn about and remember the tragic events of the Holocaust.
