The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, located in Norwalk, Connecticut, is a National Historic Landmark and a premier example of Second Empire architecture. Built between 1863 and 1868 by banker and railroad financier LeGrand Lockwood, the estate was designed by the preeminent New York City architectural firm of Detlef Lienau and includes a 70-room main house, a carriage house, and a stable.

The mansion has a unique combination of Gothic Revival, Italianate, and French Second Empire features, including a Mansard roof, a three-story tower, and a grand porte-cochère. Inside, the mansion boasts ornate woodwork, intricate plasterwork, and fine marble fireplaces, as well as hand-painted wallpapers and tiled floors.

Today, the mansion serves as a museum and is open for tours. Visitors can explore the mansion and its grounds, learn about its history, and view a variety of exhibitions on topics such as the Civil War, Victorian fashion, and landscape design. In addition, the museum hosts special events, including lectures, musical performances, and holiday celebrations. The museum also offers educational programs and classes for all ages.
