Capt. Elisha Phelps House is a historic house located in Simsbury, Connecticut. Built in 1795, the house was originally home to Capt. Elisha Phelps, a veteran of the Revolutionary War. The house is a classic example of an 18th century New England colonial and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The house is a two-story, five bay, wood-framed structure set on a fieldstone foundation. The main façade features a symmetrical arrangement of windows and a central entrance flanked by pilasters and topped with a triangular pediment. The hipped roof has two chimneys with stepped caps. The interior features a central chimney, beaded board walls, and wide-plank floors.
The house has undergone several renovations over the years, including a full restoration in the 1950s. In addition to the main house, the property includes a number of outbuildings, including a small barn, a smokehouse, and an icehouse. The property is now owned by the Simsbury Historical Society and serves as a museum, open to the public for tours.
