The Trinidad Junior Historical Society Inc (TJHS) is an organization that was founded in 1997 in Trinidad, Colorado. The mission of TJHS is to promote and enliven the heritage of Trinidad and its surrounding community by collecting, preserving, interpreting and sharing the history, culture and stories of the past.
TJHS is a nonprofit organization that operates with the support of a board of directors, volunteers and donations from the community. The organization is run by a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. TJHS holds monthly meetings that are open to all members of the community.
The organization also offers a variety of educational programs, including lectures, workshops and field trips. These programs are designed to encourage learning, research and appreciation of local history.
TJHS also works in partnership with other local organizations to organize events such as the annual Trinidad History Fair, a celebration of the history and culture of Trinidad and its surrounding area. TJHS is an active member of the Colorado Historical Society, the Colorado Council of Local Historical Societies and Museums, and the Colorado Preservation Alliance. The organization also serves as a resource for the Trinidad Museum of History and the Trinidad History Project.
TJHS is dedicated to preserving the history and culture of Trinidad and its surrounding area. Through their programs, events and partnerships, TJHS continues to provide the community with an understanding and appreciation of the past.
