The Mercer Area Historical Society is a non-profit organization based in Mercer, Wisconsin. Founded in 1984, the society is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history and heritage of the Mercer area. The society operates the Mercer Depot Museum, which is housed in a historic railroad depot building and features exhibits on the history of the town and its surrounding area.

The museum's exhibits include artifacts, photographs, and documents that showcase the area's logging and mining industries, as well as its Native American history and early settlers. The museum also features a restored caboose and a working model train display.

In addition to operating the museum, the Mercer Area Historical Society sponsors educational programs and events throughout the year. These events include lectures, presentations, and tours of historic sites in the area.

The society is run by a board of directors and relies on the support of its members and volunteers to carry out its mission. Its efforts to preserve and promote the history of the Mercer area have helped to foster an appreciation for the town's rich heritage and attract visitors from around the region.
