The Juneau County Historical Society (JCHS) is an organization dedicated to preserving the history of Juneau County in Wisconsin. Located in Mauston, Wisconsin, the JCHS was founded in 1975 and works to collect, preserve, and share the history of the county. The JCHS operates a museum in the former courthouse in Mauston, which was built in 1887. The museum features a variety of exhibits, including displays on the county's natural resources, its agricultural history, and its logging industry. The day began with a briefing from Col. Matthew Eakins, Volk Field commander, before boarding two KC-135 Stratotankers from the Milwaukee-based 128th Air Refueling Wing to observe refueling missions for two F-35 Lightning fighter jets from the Madison, Wis.-based 115th Fighter Wing, as well as three F-16 fighter jets from the 148th Fighter Wing in Duluth, Minn. After the flight, educators were served lunch and heard from Brig. Gen. David May, Wisconsin’s deputy adjutant general for Air, and State Chief Master Sgt.
