SUFFOLK, VA

The City of Suffolk is located in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia, just west of the independent city of Norfolk. It is the largest city in the state by land area and the 14th most populous city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It is the largest city in the Hampton Roads metropolitan area, which also includes the independent cities of Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, as well as other smaller cities and towns.

Suffolk is bordered by the James River to the northwest and the Nansemond River to the northeast. The city is home to several parks, as well as a number of historical sites, including the Revolutionary War Battle of Great Bridge and the Suffolk Seaboard Station Railroad Museum. The city also features a number of shopping and dining opportunities, while its downtown area is home to a variety of local businesses.

Just minutes away from Suffolk is the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, which connects the city to the cities of Portsmouth and Norfolk. The city is also served by a number of major highways, including I-64, I-664, and US-58. Suffolk is also home to a number of universities and colleges, including Old Dominion University, Norfolk State University, and Virginia Wesleyan College. The city is served by the Suffolk City Public Schools system and has a number of private schools as well.
