Battersea is an 18th century historic mansion located in Petersburg, Virginia. The mansion was built in 1767 by John Banister, a prominent Virginia politician, and was named after Banister's ancestral home in England. The mansion is situated on a 20-acre property that overlooks the Appomattox River.

The mansion is a two-story brick building with a central entrance and symmetrical wings. The interior of the mansion features ornate plasterwork, marble fireplaces, and intricate woodwork. The mansion has been restored to its original grandeur and is now open to the public for tours.

In addition to the mansion, the Battersea property also includes a carriage house, a formal garden, and a walking trail that leads down to the Appomattox River. The carriage house has been converted into a visitor center and gift shop.

Battersea has a rich history and has been occupied by several prominent Virginians over the years, including Revolutionary War hero General Robert Bolling and Virginia Governor William H. Cabell. During the Civil War, the mansion was used as a hospital for wounded soldiers.

Today, Battersea is a popular tourist attraction and is considered one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in the United States. The mansion is also a popular venue for weddings and other special events.
