Knight Foundry is a historic industrial complex located in Sutter Creek, California. It was established in 1873 by Samuel Knight, who arrived in California during the Gold Rush era. Over time, the foundry became famous for producing machines and equipment used in the mining industry, including stamp mills, ore carts, and water wheels.

The complex consists of several buildings, including the main foundry building, the machine shop, and the blacksmith shop. The main foundry building features a large cupola furnace used for melting iron, as well as a pattern shop where molds were made.

Today, Knight Foundry is a museum and historic site, open to the public for tours. Visitors can see the original equipment and machinery used in the foundry, including the massive water wheel that powered the machines. The site also features a collection of mining artifacts and exhibits on the history of the Gold Rush era.

Knight Foundry is a significant part of California's industrial heritage and a unique example of 19th-century technology and craftsmanship. It was designated a National Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark in 1981 and is a must-see destination for history buffs and industrial enthusiasts.
