The Genealogical and Historical Council of Sacramento Valley (GHCSV) is a non-profit organization located in Sacramento, California, dedicated to furthering the study of genealogy and local history. Founded in 1975, it is the largest genealogical organization in the Sacramento area and serves members in the greater Sacramento area, from Stockton to Roseville to Placerville.

The GHCSV offers a wide variety of resources for genealogical and historical research, including classes, lectures, seminars, workshops, and monthly meetings. The organization also maintains a library of over 4,000 volumes and microfilms, including census records, vital records, military records, and other family history-related materials. Additionally, the GHCSV provides an online library of digitized resources, including a newspaper index, cemetery records, and book indexes.

The GHCSV also works to preserve and promote the history of the Sacramento Valley. It has published several books on local history and genealogy, including its popular annual compilation, “Sacramento Valley Genealogical and Historical Journal.” The organization also hosts field trips to historical sites and cemeteries in the Sacramento Valley, as well as genealogy-related classes and seminars.

The GHCSV is a member of the Federation of Genealogical Societies and participates in the California Genealogical Society. Membership in the GHCSV is open to all interested in genealogy and local history, with discounted rates available for members of the California Genealogical Society.

Lessingia glandulifera - valley lessingia Valley lessingia growing along the American River Parkway, Rancho Cordova, Sacramento County, California. According to Calflora, this area lies at the north end of the distribution of this species. Flowering heads are discoid with outer corollas ligule-like. A native annual forb closely related to Erigeron and Conyza (tribe Astereae).
