The Murphy Historical Society Inc., located in Richardson, Texas, is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of the City of Richardson and its surrounding areas. Its mission is to preserve, interpret, and promote the history and heritage of Richardson and its surrounding areas.
The Society manages two museums, the Murphy History Center and the Cottonwood Arts Center. The Murphy History Center houses artifacts from Richardson’s early days, including Native American artifacts, photographs, and documents. The Cottonwood Arts Center has a wide selection of 19th century artifacts and memorabilia. The Society also offers programs and events to educate the public on the rich history of Richardson.
The Society is active in the local community and participates in numerous events throughout the year. It also provides education programs for school groups, scout troops, and other organizations. In addition, the Society offers a variety of volunteer opportunities, such as working in the museums, helping with research projects, and assisting with the maintenance of the historic sites.
