The Lincoln County Historical Society, Inc. is a non-profit organization based in Fayetteville, TN, dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of Lincoln County. Established in 1962, the society operates the Old Jail Museum, which is housed in the historic jail building built in 1890. The museum showcases a range of exhibits and artifacts that showcase the history of the county, including its pioneer days, the Civil War period, and the development of agriculture, industry, and transportation in the region.

Rockets Away! 2012 Student Launch Projects (NASA, Marshall, 4/22/12) Specially crafted rockets soared high into the skies April 22 at the 2011-12 NASA Student Launch Projects challenge. More than 500 students, representing 53 middle schools, high schools, colleges and universities in 28 states, launched rockets of their own design -- complete with working science payloads or engineering payloads -- at Bragg Farms in Toney, Ala. The students vied to see whose rocket could come closest to the 1-mile altitude goal and safely return its onboard science payload to Earth. Fifty-one teams took part, though two faced mechanical or technical issues and did not launch. Ten preliminary awards were presented, and the grand prize -- $5,000 from ATK Aerospace Group in Salt Lake City, Utah -- will be awarded May 18 after final post-flight analysis and review are complete. This is the fifth year ATK has sponsored Student Launch Projects. Tims Ford Dam & Spillway Tims Ford Dam was built by the TVA from 1966 to 1970, stands 175 feet high and 1580 feet long at its crest, and impounds the Elk River for an average of 36 megawatts of hydroelectric power. The reservoir has a flood storage capacity of 219,600 acre-feet.

Barred Owl - Tim's Ford State Park Tim Ford State Park in Tennessee has a small aviary next to the visitor's center. According to their sign: The barred owl can be identified by its dark eyes, the barred pattern on its throat and streaks on its belly. Their feathers make it possible to fly almost silently as they hunt their prey of rodents, birds, reptiles and large insects.
