MABRY-HAZEN HOUSE

The Mabry-Hazen House is a historic home located in Knoxville, Tennessee. The house was constructed in 1858 and was originally owned by Joseph Mabry, a prominent businessman in Knoxville at the time. The house is a prime example of the Greek Revival style of architecture that was popular during the mid-19th century.

During the Civil War, the house was occupied by both Union and Confederate forces at different times. In 1864, the house was used as a hospital for wounded Union soldiers. The house remained in the Mabry family until 1887, when it was sold to a local doctor named J.G.M. Ramsey.

In 1930, the house was purchased by the Hazen family, who lived there until 1987. The house was then donated to the Knoxville Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, who have been responsible for its upkeep and preservation ever since.

Today, the Mabry-Hazen House is open to the public for tours and events. Visitors can explore the house and learn about its history, as well as the history of Knoxville and the surrounding area. The house is also home to a collection of artifacts and memorabilia related to the Civil War and the Hazen family.
