SMITH'S CASTLE

Smith's Castle is a historic house museum located in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. The house was built in 1678 by Richard Smith, a wealthy landowner and trader who was one of the earliest settlers of the area. The house has undergone several renovations and additions over the years, but the original structure is still visible.

The castle is a two-story wooden structure with a steeply pitched roof and a central chimney. The exterior is painted white with green shutters and the interior is furnished with period pieces from the 17th and 18th centuries. Visitors can tour the house and see rooms such as the kitchen, parlor, and bedrooms.

In addition to the house, the property includes a barn, a springhouse, and a herb garden. The barn houses a museum with exhibits on the history of the area and the Smith family. The springhouse was used to store food and drink in the 17th century and is now used for educational programs and events.

Smith's Castle is open for tours from June to September and hosts several events throughout the year, including a summer camp for children and a holiday open house. The castle is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is an important part of Rhode Island's colonial history.
