Perris / corporate phone eyesore… (# 0016). Could not resist this, mainly because I’ve had friends who worked for various incarnations of ‘the phone company’ (Pacific/Southwest Bell/AT&T) and would have found interesting this abandoned ‘phone’ (most recently Frontier, the seeming last resort for landline phone companies) company building. Most of central Perris looked fairly good, this really stood out as a corporate eyesore.
Perris / Perris Theater (# 0018) Opened in 1946, designed in an art-deco style but apparently modified at various times. It’s now owned by the city for its historical value to downtown, but closed due to structural problems. Pictures in the below links show the theater as once having a marquee around the base of the tall sign. Perris / SoCal Rail Museum UP 2564 (# 0007) Originally built in 1921 for a Union Pacific subsidiary and traded UP subsidiary “Oregon Short Line” in 1923 where it was used until 1955. Retired in 1959 and wound up at this museum in 1997. Pictures from visiting those at a previous time are with the tag to Southern California Railway Museum.
