The Sewickley Valley Historical Society (SVHS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1975 to preserve and promote the history of the Sewickley Valley area of Western Pennsylvania. The society is based in the borough of Sewickley, Pennsylvania, and serves the communities of Sewickley, Edgeworth, Glen Osborne, Glenfield, Haysville, Leetsdale and Sewickley Heights.
The SVHS operates the Sewickley Valley Museum located in the historic Quaker meetinghouse in Sewickley. The museum houses a variety of artifacts and archives which illustrate the history of the Sewickley Valley region. The museum is open to the public and provides educational programming, historical tours, and research services.
The SVHS also maintains the historical archives of the Sewickley Valley region, including photographs, documents and other items relevant to the area. The SVHS also publishes a quarterly newsletter for its members that includes information about upcoming events and activities, as well as articles about local history.
The SVHS is actively involved in the local community, sponsoring events and programs, such as lectures, educational programs, and field trips. The SVHS also works with other local organizations to ensure that the history of the Sewickley Valley region is preserved and shared.
