LOWER MAKEFIELD HISTORICAL SOCIETY

YARDLEY, PA

The Lower Makefield Historical Society in Yardley PA is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the Township of Lower Makefield. Established in 1977, the Society collects, preserves, and interprets artifacts, documents, and other materials related to the history of the Township.

The Society operates out of the Lower Makefield Township Historical Center, which houses its collection of over 8,000 artifacts and documents. The Historical Center also houses a library, which includes over 300 books, pamphlets, and newspapers related to the history of the Township.

The Society hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including lectures and workshops. The Society also participates in local events, including Yardley’s annual Heritage Day celebration. In addition, the Society offers educational programs for school groups and runs a summer camp for children.

The Society is a member of the Pennsylvania Federation of Historical Societies and Museums and is actively involved in the preservation and promotion of the Township’s history. Through its efforts, the Society ensures that the history of Lower Makefield remains alive and accessible to the public.
