St. Johns Bridge from US Highway 30, Linnton, Portland, OR Built in 1929-1931, this Gothic Revival-style suspension bridge was designed by David B. Steinman to carry the US Highway 30 Bypass across the Willamette River downstream of Downtown Portland.  The bridge carries a four-lane roadway through a series of steel trusses, and features two 400 foot (120 meter) tall steel towers with gothic arches, supporting cables that carry a central span of 1,207 feet (368 meters), with the bridge having an overall length of 2,067 feet (630 meters).  The bridge has become a significant landmark on Portland’s west side, and is the bridge with the most distinctive appearance in the city.

The Tualatin Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the history of the Tualatin, Oregon. Located in the heart of the Tualatin Valley, the Society was founded in 1976 and is the oldest historical organization in Washington County.

The Society collects, preserves, and interprets artifacts, documents, photographs and oral histories that tell the story of the Tualatin Valley. The Society maintains an extensive archive of historical information and artifacts, providing research services to the public, schools, and organizations.

The Society offers a variety of programs, events and activities throughout the year to educate the community about the history of Tualatin. These include lectures and presentations, historic house tours, and an annual Heritage Celebration.

The Society also oversees a number of historical sites, such as the Pioneer Cemetery, the Tualatin Academy, and the historic Tualatin Schoolhouse.

The Tualatin Historical Society is an independent, non-profit organization funded primarily by memberships, donations, grants and fundraising events. The Society strives to make the history of the Tualatin Valley accessible to everyone through its collections, programs, and activities.
