The Willamette Valley Model Railroad Club and Operating Museum I in Keizer, OR, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the model railroad hobby. The club was founded in 1977 and has been operating in Keizer since 1981. As of 2020, the club has over 200 members.
The club’s operating museum is located in a 2,400 square foot building with a large operating layout and a variety of displays and artifacts. The museum’s layout is based on the Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads in the 1950s, and includes over 10,000 feet of track and more than 100 bridges, tunnels and other structures. The museum also includes a variety of scenery, such as a mountain range, towns, industries and a variety of other features.
The club’s operating sessions are typically held on the first and third Saturdays of each month, and visitors are welcome to watch and participate in the operating sessions. The club also hosts a variety of other events, such as model train shows, swap meets, and educational programs.
