The Malheur Country Historical Society is an organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Malheur County, Oregon. Founded in 1953, the Society is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization that collects, preserves, and interprets the history of Malheur County. The Society consists of a board of trustees, officers, and members who work to raise funds and promote the Society’s mission.

The Society operates a museum, which is housed in an old school building in Ontario, Oregon. The museum is open to the public and features a variety of exhibits and artifacts related to the history of Malheur County. Visitors can learn about the area’s early settlers, Native American culture, and the development of the local economy. The museum also offers a variety of educational programs and workshops for children and adults.

The Society also maintains a library, which is open to members and the public. The library contains a wide selection of books, photographs, and other historical materials related to Malheur County. In addition, the Society hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including seminars, lectures, and tours of the local area.
