The Fort Recovery Historical Society was founded in 1964 with the mission to preserve, protect, and promote the history of Fort Recovery, Ohio. Located in the northwest corner of the state, the Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the area’s history, culture, and heritage.

The Society operates the Fort Recovery State Museum, which features over 3,000 artifacts and exhibits that tell the story of the region’s history, from the area’s early Native American inhabitants to the Revolutionary War battle that took place at the fort in 1794. The museum also houses a reconstructed fort, a replica of a settler’s cabin, and a museum library.

In addition to the museum, the Historical Society also offers educational programs, lectures, and special events. They also have a museum store which stocks books and other items related to the area’s history.

The Society also works to preserve and protect the local history and architecture by maintaining a list of historic sites and landmarks and providing assistance in restoring and preserving old buildings and other structures.

The Historical Society is a nonprofit organization supported by memberships, donations, grants, and fundraising events. They are committed to preserving and promoting the history and culture of the Fort Recovery area and its people.
