The Madison Historical Society (MHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of Madison, Ohio, and the surrounding area. Founded in 1984, MHS works to preserve and protect the history of Madison and its surrounding area through educational programs, collections, exhibits, and research.
MHS is housed in a two-story brick building constructed in 1876. This historic building is on the National Register of Historic Places and hosts a variety of programs and events. MHS offers a variety of educational programs including lectures, field trips, and hands-on activities to help bring history to life. It also displays artifacts from the Madison area in its museum displays.
The society also has a library and archive that houses books, photos, maps, and other documents related to Madison's past. The library also contains a number of historical newspapers, yearbooks, and other documents from the area.
