The Steamship William G Mather is a retired Great Lakes freighter that is now a museum located in Cleveland, Ohio. The 618-foot-long vessel was originally launched in 1925 and was in service until 1980. It was named after William Gwinn Mather, a Cleveland industrialist who was instrumental in the development of the Great Lakes shipping industry.

The ship has a steel hull and was powered by a triple-expansion steam engine that produced 2,500 horsepower. It could carry up to 14,000 tons of cargo and had a crew of 35. It was primarily used to transport iron ore, coal, and grain from the upper Great Lakes to steel mills and other destinations on the lower lakes.

After being retired, the William G Mather was donated to the Great Lakes Historical Society and opened as a museum in 1991. Visitors can explore the ship and learn about the history of Great Lakes shipping, as well as the life of a sailor on board a freighter. The museum features exhibits on navigation, engineering, and the ecology of the Great Lakes. Visitors can also tour the engine room, crew quarters, and other areas of the ship.
